Your Heart, Your Life/Su Corazon, Su Vida: Manual del Promotor y Promotora de Salud (en español) Para ayudar a los promotores en presentar un curso de 11 lecciones, este manual es amigable, culturalmente apropiado y completo en la educación sanitaria de corazón para la comunidad latina.
From Heart to Heart: A Bilingual Group Discussion Guide/Del corazón al corazón: una guía bilingüe de discusión en grupo (bilingual English, Spanish) Written in English and Spanish, this guide explains how to organize and conduct two 1-hour educational sessions (Charlas) on heart health targeting the Latino community. The guide contains ideas for choosing a facilitator and advertising the charla; a list of materials needed for the sessions; background information for the facilitator; a master copy of handouts to reproduce before the sessions; and ideas for optional activities such as blood cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, nutrition counseling, and heart-healthy food demonstrations. Can be used for small or large groups.
We Can!® (Ways to Enhance Children's Activity & Nutrition): To help children ages 8–13 years maintain a healthy weight by providing curricula, tools, tips, and other resources to parents, caregivers, communities, and other organizations. Special attention is directed to black, Hispanic, and American Indian/Alaska Native populations.
Salud para su Corazón (For the Health of Your Heart) is an exciting new and comprehensive community-based heart-health promotion initiative from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. It targets Latinos living in the United States. The project raises awareness of the risk factors and promotes lifestyle changes to reduce the chances of developing heart disease.
Familias Unidas Preventive Intervention: The Familias Unidas Preventive Intervention is a family-based program for Hispanic families with children ages 12-17. It is designed to prevent conduct disorders; use of illicit drugs, alcohol, and cigarettes; and risky sexual behaviors by improving family functioning.
Storytelling for Empowerment: Storytelling for Empowerment is a school-based, bilingual (English and Spanish) intervention for teenagers at risk for substance abuse, HIV, and other problem behaviors due to living in impoverished communities with high availability of drugs and limited health care services.
